We had a great time at this workshop. Experience was varied, and we even had one person on mbira (or thumb piano) rather than ukulele, but everyone joined in brilliantly.
We started with a quick tune-up, then worked our way up from one chord songs, through to 2 chords and then three. This meant we could tackle some great songs like Swing Low, When the Saints, and I'm Gonna Sing (which handily all fit together as partner songs) and then we finished with a rousing performance of Da Doo Ron Ron, complete with backing singers. We even learnt a little about the history of the ukulele and what the word means!
Hopefully there'll be another beginner course with the same repertoire, then a follow-up session with new chords and songs.
Twangtastic.
